To the Families and Students of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School,
I am so excited to be your new Principal! I certainly understand that change can bring uncertainty and anxiety, but I believe it can also bring tremendous opportunity. I have always admired the mission and passion of everyone associated with Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School (SPP), and now, thanks be to God, I get to be a part of a school family that is truly special. My family and I have been members of Saints Peter and Paul Parish since moving to New Braunfels in 1998 to teach in Comal ISD. This last December I retired from the New Braunfels Independent School District where I served as the Principal at the Ninth Grade Center. I am completing a year on active duty with the Texas Army National Guard in support of the COVID mission for Texas and look forward to getting back to the field of education full time!
While we can look back and learn from some of the incredible changes and unprecedented experiences of the last 18 months, I prefer to look ahead to the wonderful learning opportunities and new relationships our upcoming school year offers! Parents, we need your support to make this work. Teamwork is the only way to establish a path toward excellence. I know the passionate teachers of SPP give 100% every day to your children; I am going to look to you to support them, meaningfully communicate with me, and pray for our SPP school community. Optimism is contagious while cynicism is crippling. I promise that none of you are more anxious than I about starting the year in a positive way. As Saint Augustine stated, “Patience is the Companion of Wisdom.” By keeping God first, our students second, and our SPP school and parish community a close third, we together will make our little piece of the New Braunfels Catholic community better than ever.
Blessings,
Jeff Lightsey
